Val:  I can't speak to the prenatal bleeding from the nipples (is it from
both sides?  If only one, intraductal papilloma is a possibility).  If
one is concerned about Hep C transmission from grossly bleeding nipples
(although the data seem to point to no increased risk of transmission
overall with bf, theoretically the risk would increase with bleeding), I
can't see how nipple shields would help, since the milk would still go to
the baby through the nipple shield.  Hope this helps.  Alicia.
