Jay - perhaps the drug she is taking is Isoniazid, an antituberculosis agent?
Drugs in Preg and Lactation (p327-8) says "...at least one review concluded
that women can safely breastfeed their infants while taking isoniazid if,
among other precautions, the infant is periodically examined for signs and
symptoms of peripheral neuritis or hepatitis... the AAP considers isoniazid
to be compatible with breastfeeding".
"Breastfeeding and Maternal Medication: Recommendations for Drugs in the
Essential Drug List", WHO/UNICEF Jan 1995, section 6.2.4 Antituberculosis
drugs, says "isoniazid - Compatible with breastfeeding. Monitor the infant
for jaundice."
Hope Patrick is still flourishing!!
