The speed of feeding when comparing cup, bottle and breast was published in
PEDIATRICS in 1947/8! Cupfeeding was the fastest means of feeding the
baby, according to the authors, who timed how long feedings took.

By the way, this article also noted that it is much harder to get the baby
to breastfeed if he/she has been bottle-fed first. Surprise, surprise.
Please note that this study was done when routine length of hospitalization
in the US following birth was around 7-10 days!
