Hi All,
My .02 on this topic:
First, Ruthy had sais that this mom BF for all of 5 wks, and now wants to be
an LC by taking a course that will have her as a CLC in a very short time
(don't remember how long). Personally, if it were me, I'd tell this lady
"Look, I think it is great that you want to help other moms, but you didn't
BF very long, and you really need to BF your own child for an extended
period of time so that you can have a personal knowledge of the different
stages babies go through with BF. Also, I am not comfortable having someone
with so little education in this field taking a short course to become a
CLC, then watching me for a short time, then announcing herself as a LC. It
takes years to become a true LC, knowledgeable in the many different areas
of BF. " I'd also elaborate on the legal side of what she is doing and the
harm that can be done by someone who isn't fully qualified.
My .02.
