Milk Thistle is an herb used primarily to cleanse the liver, it is possible
that toxins cleansed from the liver and thrown to the blood stream could
pass through breast milk. I never recommend cleansing programs during
lactation. Please tell this Mom to stop this supplementation right away.
Blessed Thistle, Fenugreek and Fennel are all good options for increasing
milk supply. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to
contact me direct.
>This one is for Tami or anyone else who would care to respond. One of my
NICU moms is taking Milk Thistle (not Blessed Thistle) to increase milk
production - her sister told her about it. Is this a safe and effective
galactogogue? Thanks!!!
