In my area, too, brf is always done in combination with bottle.  Since I
work in-hospital only for the past 4 yrs., the only follow-up info I
have is from our clinic population.  By their 6 week checkups the staff
reports that most of them are bottle feeding.  Frustrating.  A local LC
here in the Washington, D.C. area who is from El Salvador told me that
there is no "doing both" in her country...everyone breastfeeds.  It is
also interesting to me that the nurses all tell me that Hispanic women
"do both from the beginning" and they "seem to do fine".  I don't think
they do so fine.
