I need some info on a genetic disease(?) called Familiar Med. Fever (FMF.)
I can't find much in the literature. From what I understand, symptoms include
joint and abdom. pain.
My clients are French, of North African parents. The mother has suffered from FMF
since childhood, on and off. She has had a flair-up during pregnancy. She is
currently taking 2 mg. of COLCHICINE daily. Both of her sisters in France also
suffer from FMF and were warned not to even attempt bf. The docs here are equally
non-supportive. Mom is due to deliver soon and wants to fully bf. Tom Hale's
book says the med is approved by the AAP. The possible adverse effects mentioned
scare the parents.
Any help/support/info would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
