Thank you for your great summary. It is always difficult for me to be in the
position of telling a mother something other than what the doctor says!  I
share my info from Briggs and Hale's books, but still the doctors jump on the
fact that it may not say "approved" and will take the "conservative, safer"
route as if artificial milk had no risks of its own. It really is a matter of
perspective, and that we stand on opposite sides of the fence at this point
in time.  I'll check out your medscape address and see what I can find--
