Anyone have any ideas about a mother who started having nipple pain
during the pregnancy, continued all along through her nursing and is
still present now that the baby is 8 months old and nursing only once a
day? She did have cracks at first, but those settled. She has tried
treatment for yeast, for eczema and for all other things I can think of.
Naturally, she has been told that the pain was due to the breastfeeding
(grrr), but it is not better now that the baby is nursing only once a
day than when the baby was feeding frequently. The pain is constant
throughout the day, and has no real relation to nursing. The nipples
are apparently quite pink or red (she is in Nova Scotia, and I have not
seen her, but spoke to her by phone). She is planning on having another
baby soon, and does not want to go through what she went through with
this baby. I suggested she return to a dermatologist.
