Anna,
I don't remember the intial details of the post but it suddenly reminded me
of a LLL friend who had a very hard time keeping her second baby nursing.  She
struggled constantly to get her to nurse and lasted until about 10 months.
It wasn't until she had to have tubes put in the babies ears that she
realized the nursing problem could have been because of undetected ear
infection or blockage.  Food for thought.
