Just got back from a client home visit. Here is part of the problem.

She was told to BUY a pump to cut down on rental prices, as she was likely
to be pumping long-term for her 29 week gest . baby who was in hopsital for
8 weeks and finally came home. Baby is now nearly 4 mo old from date of
birth (6 weeks from EDC) and mother's supply is no longer meeting baby's
need. Mother has noted a decline in amount obtained since she started
using the PNS pump (about 2 weeks now).

Is anyone else running into people who have been told

a) the PNS is a "hospital grade pump"?
b) to buy the PNS for long-term pumping following birth of a premature?

If a) or b) is true, what are your experiences with such mothers?

We are going to give things another week with some changes in frequency of
her pumping and if no improvement (I did help her get baby on breast for
the first time, so maybe we won't have to do anything else!), she is going
to go back to the full-size pumps.

Your expeirences would be most helpful as I continue to assess what is
going on here.
