While caring for a baby with a cleft lip who was doing scary blue things - I
asked a ped to check for T E fistula. I was told "they almost never have
more than one major birth defect" (that was what was taught to this ped in
school). In my nursing school (and everyone else's in our nursery), we were
taught to look harder when there is a birth defect. Why are the
philosophies so different? When does common sense come in? Obviously common
sense and intuition are not scientific and therefore we will all continue to
beat our heads against brick walls.
Whew - sorry - I didn't realize how mad this makes me.
