Hi...I need any expertise you are willing to lend. I have a panicked mom
who has a 5 month old girl with an HCT of 21.5. The baby was born at 31
wks gest at 5 lbs 11 oz. Mom is being threatened by pediatrician that he
will turn her into child protective services if she doesn't administer Fe
(iron supp) TID plus TriViFlor with Fe once per day. Normally, I'd agree
that this baby needs some iron, BUT mom is very concerned because her
father (baby's maternal grandad) has severe hemochronmatosis (iron overload
disease), which is a genetically carried disease. Any suggestions? TIA!!!
