I overheard the following exchange between my children this morning as I
read the Lactnet post about the pediatrician wondering what other
parenting problems parents of nursing toddlers have:
Alyssa (7) and Vinny (10) are sitting in front of the family computer
together. Alyssa slips off her chair, onto some lego buildings on the
floor.
Vinny: Alyssa are you alright?
Alyssa: Oh no, the legos!
Vinny: I'm not worried about the legos, I'm worried about you. Are
you alright?
Yes, this is a real parenting problem, kids who care more about siblings
than toys.
Another parenting problem I have is that my kids are nurturing. Last
year I had pneumonia, which started with fever and chills when my
husband was not home. Alyssa covered me with everyone's blankets,
brought me the tissue box, massaged my forehead, and offered to
microwave me a hot chocolate (the only hot beverage she is allowed to
make).
May everyone have such 'problems' from their children.
