Okay folks, here's my response;
Dear Editor:
Why in the world would you publish such a negative article on
breastfeeding, when every major health organization condones it as the
best feeding method? Your article was inflammatory and offered
nothing but one person's anecdotal experience. Why not focus on the
postive and offer creative solutions to all of the problems that Ms
Skenazy encountered? The overwhelming majority of women who
breastfeed experience nipple soreness similar to sore feet when
walking outdoors barefoot, not like razors. In fact, such pain would
warrant a visit to a board certified lactation consultant to identify
and correct such problems. Indeed, I have seen women overcome
tremendous odds to successfully nurse their children. Please publish
an article which highlights the overwhelming benefits of breastmilk
over artificial baby milk to counteract this irresponsible reporting.
Sincerely,
Wendy Funk
