I was hoping I could get some input from anyone regarding a mother I am
currently helping.
Mom is a hospital employee, considered "high risk" because of the number of
patients she is in contact with. Baby is 20 month old (male) who is an
extremely avid nurser (and BTW has not has his MMR as of yet). Hospital is
insisting mom must have MMR (citing it is state law she does. Mom check with
state and no such law exists that they can find!) Yet, hospital refuses to
give her the vaccine because she is breastfeeding (citing, of all things, the
PDR!) Mom is currently at home - hospital has put her on leave. she will be
terminated at month's end if this is not settled.
Mom already has references from The Breastfeeding AnswerBook, other LLL
materials, and the CDC(!) Hospital so far is not budging (administrator asked
nurse if they would accept CDC info!) Can anyone cite any more references I
can share with her? (At testing. titres were ok for rubella, "low" for
measles)
Please e-mail me privately, and let me know that I may share your info with
her.
I appreciate it!
