Hello,
I'm a junior nursing student who will be going into midwifery.
This is my first time on the list. I was reading in my maternity textbook
about maternal nutrition and the importance of adequate fluid intake
during lactation. My text recommended 8-10 glasses daily of fluids such
as juice, milk, soups and the like. I understand the necessity of having
an adequate milk volume, by drinking fluids but what about specific foods.
Are there any foods that should not be eaten by a lactating mom. I've
also read that some babies may become distressed by certain foods like
chocolate, spices, and onions. Has anyone on the list had complaints from
your nursing mothers about their baby's reaction to certain foods, if so
please reply with some examples.
