I'm having a phone consultation tomorrow with a woman who gets a raised
rash on her breasts (and spots on both hips!) when she nurses her 6 week
old. In tonight's short phone call she said:
She nurses every three hours or so - says he'll throw up if she nurses more
often - and uses both breasts each time. Plenty of milk. Baby uses a
pacifier vigorously. They've been battling thrush and he still has visible
thrush in his mouth. She's on synthroid following radiation a few years
ago for Grave's disease.
Your thoughts? I'm running a lactnet search on rashes. I know, I know,
the rash needs to be seen. But could it be that the hormonal rollercoaster
that must accompany infrequent nursing with an overeager supply/baby is a
contributing factor, and that bringing herself more into synch with her son
would bring her body more into synch with itself??
