Stephanie,
Maybe your mom who will need help following hernia corrective surgery can
hire a postpartum doula? The doula, as she would immediately postpartum,
would be "mothering the mother" so mom can recoup and stay bonded with her
baby. The extra help around the house and support won't hurt either! I'm
sure NAPCS or DONA can help her find a doula she likes.
