I was just reading Childbirth Instructor mag and saw an incredible
advertisement demonstrating the depth of how sick, paranoid and incredibly
dangerous our society is today. There's a product advertised to collect
DNA samples from your newborn and have them sent and stored at a long-term
storage facility. This isn't for "health" purposes; rather with the intent
that in the event of "unfortunate situations involving children come in
many forms--custodial disputes, abductions, ...." Now, I remember when I
was living in LA how bad things were--hospital nurseries were competing for
patients by advertising their anti-theft devices for babies--but isn't this
just preying on parent's fear? What do others think about this? IMHO,
parents should be using their precious energies to get bf off to a good
start and bond with their kids, not planning how to get them back after
they're abducted.
Thanks for letting me rant a bit...
BewiLLLdered,
Chris
