I believe you acted appropriately. In academic settings, it is the norm to
question authority and their opinions. When someone questions what I have to
say, I rather respect the fact that they have their own opinion (be it right
or wrong), and I rather enjoy the struggle to win ones own argument. I
strongly believe that only through questioning the accepted, do we advance to
the future.
(Remember the Australian physician 10 years ago who suggested that gastric
ulcers were caused by a bacteria (H.Pylori). After much criticism and
cynicism, turns out, he was right.)
Keep fighting, after all, you WERE right !!!
