BRAVO. I give a lecture to our local RN college student every rotation. I has
sure made a difference when they get out in the real world. Plus some of the
students have been successful in changing the policies at the county hospital
where they do their clinical.
Don't stop talking about long term nursing. To most of these people anything
past 6 weeks is long term. I discuss long term nursing with the RN
students,(two of mine self weaned at 3 years and potty trained on the same
day). If anyone looks shocked I ask the class how long is a baby a baby? or
how long do kids have bottles? How long are they in diapers? It usually works
and often leads into a discussion about parenting.
It's nice when something we do keeps on giving to the community.
