Well, It seems the MacDonald's incident came at a perfect time, I have just
heard that California bill AB 157 is once again in the works. This time I
believe it is being introduced under the health statute versus the civil (which
caused the obstacles 2 years ago). I have very little information on this yet
but spoke to staff at Assemblyman Villaraigosa's office who say it will go to
committee in early March. At this time what can be done is:
1) Send a letter of support for AB 157 to:
Assembly member Antonio Villaraigosa
State Capitol, Room 320
Sacramento, Calif. 95814
Letters of support from health professionals(especially MD's.), organizations
that are interested in maternal/child health issues will be especially helpful
at this time.
2) Start collecting names and testimonies of mothers who have had a negative
experience breastfeeding in public or place of business. Send these to above
address.
If I find out more I will post,
