Mrs. Clinton,
A colleague alerted me to one of your New Year's Resolutions: A plan for a
White House conference on the brain, stressing the importance of early
childhood nurturing and nutrition.
Please have breastfeeding well represented. There is an Academy of
Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) with some very prominent physicians as members.
There is a National Alliance for Breastfeeding Advocacy (NABA), there is an
International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) based in the U.S., and
many more organizations that could participate.
With all the current information about the very real superiority of
breastfeeding and breastmilk, and the very alarming information on the
hazards of artificial feeding, breastfeeding has now become an important
healthcare choice, not just a lifestyle choice.
I urge you to follow through with this important resolution. I look forward
to hearing more about it.
Sincerely,
Laurie Wheeler, Rnc, Mn, Ibclc
