According to Hale '96, clomiphene is extremely effective at preventing and
suppressing established lactation. Among 20 women who received it to
suppress established lactation, "After 5 days of treatment np signs of
lactation were present."
I would also advise her to wean before starting the medication, for two
reasons: First, weaning might be less upsetting to her son than trying to
nurse while she's drying up, and second, with no safety profile, the benefit
of nursing a 2 year old 5 more days doesn't justify the risk.
