Dear friends,
I'm working with a mom, G4P4 who is breastfeeding her 4 month old. She has
just been diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Her Gastroenterologist is
telling her to wean. She will be taking a drug called sulfasalazine 1
gram, twice a day, forever. I have researched this in the archives and
have read Dr. Hales 1996 book. However, the question still remains.......
Can she continue to breastfeed and take this med. AAP says use with
caution. Is there any new info on the saftey of this drug? It CAN be taken
while pregnant. Are any of you lactnuts taking this drug and
breastfeeding? what are her options?
thanks for all your help
