Melissa is so right about babies not being able to concentrate on nursing. I
remember having periods with both sons when we had to leave noisy (and even
not-so-noisy) places to nurse because otherwise there was too much latching
and pulling off, latching and pulling off. Very frustrating--the first time
it started shortly after sore nipples finally resolved around 3 months
(first baby) when I thought I finally had things going well. I also remember
periods of time when my let-down was more sluggish than usual and the baby
would get annoyed, butt up against the breast, pull away, etc. It resolved
after awhile.

Sorry to keep saying the same thing, but this is why breastfeeding groups
are so valuable--mothers hear about these things from other mothers and
realize it's all normal, all part of the nursing experience, not some big
deal, and they learn to stay flexible.
