Georgeanne.... DEFINITELY write this guy a letter (in the least).  He
can not be allowed to treat patients like this and get away with it.  He
needs some bf education in a big way.  Perhaps there are some
information sheets he can be sent also on reproduction and bf, and also
on extended breastfeeding?

I am sorry she had to be subjected to him.
