I have had contact with a woman who reports that she cannot breastfeed her
second child (although she wants to) because of dental problems she had
while she breastfed the first. Apparently, during the first month of
lactation with her first baby, her teeth began to loosen significantly.
She consulted a physician, a dentist, and an oral surgeon. The consensus
was that she was suffering from "severe calcium depletion" due to
lactation. She was advised to stop breastfeeding immediately and was
warned to never attempt breastfeeding again. She ended up having extensive
surgery on her gums to salvage her teeth. (The recommended treatment plan,
which she refused, was that she have her teeth pulled!) This woman had an
uneventful pregnancy, a healthy diet, and no other health problems.

I am quite skeptical of this diagnosis and I would be interested to hear
some feedback. Have any of you run across this diagnosis before, and if
so, what did you make of it?
