My second daughter, who had been to more LLL meetings and heard more phone
helping than one can imagine, was still b'feeding at four and she asked for
a bottle of water so that she could pretend she was a baby. It's
interesting that she didn't feel her nursing at my breast was baby-like. We
talked about what baby feelings she was wanting with the bottle. She wanted
to cuddle, so we did. (That was a clever way to get an LLL mom to stop
working and give some focused attention.)

Maybe we need to stop calling it a baby bottle. That's too interrelated.
Perhaps an artificial baby milk delivery system.

Also at the museum we saw a diorama with a group of figures sitting in a
circle around a fire. Asked what they were doing, I replied that they were
having a meeting. She asked with surprize, "Where are the babies?" At least
she got that part right.

A mom I was working with this week, expecting her second child, said her
husband said, "Maybe if you feed formula this time this baby won't be sick
so much." (ear infections and colds, until dairy was eliminated.) She
replied,"You find me research that shows that formula-fed babies are less
prone to illness and then we will talk." That was the end of that. Sounds
like, "Where are YOUR references."
