Should have done this sooner. Message I wrote with question re. syntocinon
was really for a friend in the LC business. Where I work, we never used
syntocinon very much.
I have been a childbirth educator for 20 years, and an IBCLC since 1985. I'm
also an RN. I work clinical as an IBCLC part time at St. Elizabeth Med.
Center in northern KY. I teach prenatal classes there, just breastfeeding.
In Cincinnati, OH, I work for CEA and teach Lamaze, refresher, breastfeeding,
sibling, teen, etc. classes - as needed.
I was with La Leche back in the '70s when my three breastfed children were
babies and toddlers. I'm forever grateful for what LLL taught me about
mothering. My chief interest is in the educational part of breastfeeding,
for parents and for professionals, as I'm called on to present inservices at
the hospital also, and we do try to stay up to date and
at least know WHERE to find the answers if we don't know the answers.
Our hospital is trying to become more and more Baby-Friendly everyday. It's
been a
struggle on some fronts, but is moving in the right direction. Glad to be
part of Lactnet and share the wisdom of so many good people. Thanks.
Susan Mueller, RN, BS, IBCLC
