The mother does not have to give formula.  Breastfeeding is the best
for her baby.  The baby will get just the right amount of iron from
the milk.  This one can go into the "stupid advice" column.

The mother needs iron only if she is iron deficient.  Even if the
mother had sickle cell disease, she should breastfeed.

AAAARGH!!!
