Many WIC people on LactNet, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't WIC
provide food coupons for mom as long as she is BFing? In other words,
mom *also* can eat (food obtained from WIC coupons) as long as she BFs;
if she doesn't BF, baby will be fed (formula) but not mom (no more WIC
coupons for her). Has this changed? Is it different according to each
WIC location?

Hi All,
WIC provides food vouchers to BF moms for the first year only. After that BF
is basically considered "optional" because most babies are on solids by that
time. Personally, I think that as long as mom and baby are BF mom should be
treated to the extra food. Also, some moms do combo BF and Bot feeding.
They get a reduced food pack and a formula (tho not the full amount that a
totally formula feeding mom would get). If a BF mom asks for a full formula
packet, then she automatically loses the food pack for BF moms.
At least that is the way it is here In Sacramento, CA!
