Hi, gang,
Does anyone have any information on the effect of low Hgb on the iron
content of milk? I was asked this by a mother with thalassimia minor,
who is exclusively nursing an 11.5 month old (no solids yet). Her Hgb
usually runs around 10 or 11 (range 9 - 12). She is using iron (ferrous?)
citrate, and wonders if it wouldl help her son. I haven't been able to find
anything about the effect of her condition on the iron content of her milk.
Please cc me on anything you post about this. I've been having a horrible
time trying to keep up with my reading, so I'm pretty far behind on Lactnet.
TIA
Jonathan
