Dear Norma:
Her doc told her it was the breastfeeding that caused the incontinence
and not giving birth to three children???!!! What causes it in all those
women with stress incontinence after childbirth who do not breastfeed?
There are health care providers, often physical therapists or nurses,
who specialize in urinary incontinence. They start with your basic kegel and
g on from there. It actually gets pretty high-tech, with vaginal cones,
pressure sensitive doohickies, and sometimes bio-feedback. Often, no meds
are used at all.
Yes, it's common in breastfeeding mothers because most breastfeeding
mothers have just given birth!
Sincerely,
Debi Page Ferrarello, Director of Prepared Childbirth PLUS, RN, IBCLC,
