Just before I went nomail, I read a post (from Alicia, maybe?) that
reminded me of something which has long puzzled and riled me. I hear of
preemies in our local hospital (12,000 births a year!) being encouraged
to suck a pacifier, but denied breastfeeding - i.e., mother told that baby
is too weak to be put to breast. I am not an official Trekkie, but this
sure doesn't appear logical to me, and would greatly appreciate hearing
the reasoning behind this - or is there any? I've suspicioned that it is
a case of one of those cockamamie studies that is misinterpreted, and
there goes breastfeeding AGAIN...
Since I am nomail, either cc or email privately. The peds at this
hospital are dinosaurs - I try to image them into a La Brea tar pit or
quicksand, but alas I live in a semi-desert, so not much hope.....
