So, it is my turn ! Thanks to Lactnet, I did not sound too stupid on the
phone. I am seeing a mother of six children, successfully breastfed the
first five, but unable to work up a good supply for # 6. Referred by me
by one of the best LC around... Of course, I will check her thyroid
hormones level, symptoms or not, as hypothyroidy may be quite discreet...
Do you have any suggestion ? Those of you who saw such cases, would you
e-mail me privately, or on Lactnet, though, these cases coming regularly,
I would not want to impose a repetition.

Frustrating am. I participate in teaching public health to medical
students. And it so happen that the problem presented to them about
health promotion and disease prevention is scheduled for the last week of
september... Int'l BF week ! But, according to the group, I must not put
the emphasis on BF, but on general Maternal and Child Health isssues
(including BF, they granted). And I must be very careful not to teach
these future md to make bottle-feeding mothers feel guilty, of course.
Is there a place on earth where MCH is part of public health (here, it is
a constant fight to keep it on the agenda), and where bf promotion is
part of MCH ? Any job offering ? I am tired of fighting. Maybe it is
me... Maybe I am doing something wrong... Funny: when you state the
evidence in a passionate tone, you are too pushy; but when you send
people to hell, ridicule them and toss them over your shoulder, you
become director !

Tahnks for listening. I better go to bed.
