Denise:
My mother had a breast infection 32 Years ago! and was given antibiotics over
a long period when it did not clear. She was also bound. She was not
breastfeeding at the time and had been given "dry-up" meds at the hospital
(before the infection showed up) Anyway, 22 years later after many breast
lumps (benign) and many unexplained fevers, her doctor discovered infection
had spread all around her milk ducts and was STILL there! She had 3
surgeries trying to drain the infections and finally had a 4th that removed
all of the tissue inside the breast all the way back under her arm.
Basically a mastectomy with the outside left ( a deflated balloon). It
scares me to think about your mom with the abcess weaning at this time. I'll
hope for the best for her.
Lisa
