Hi all! I had posted a remarkably similar post to Alice Z's about a mom
with a 15 mo nursling and a history of GDM. Although the circumstances are
similar, these are different moms. Thanks to all who responded to my
original post. There appears to be no research or literature about nursing
during GDM pg.

However, the consensus seems to be that nursing should help lower the mom's
blood sugar level. This effect would probably lessen as the pregnancy
continues and milk supply dwindles.

The mom from my original post has been monitoring her blood glucose before
and after nursings and has found that her levels do indeed go down after
nursing.

**A new question: She has been told by the nurse in her MDs office that:
"there was some research to show that nursing through a subsequent
pregnancy interfered with uterine lining development."

This is news to me. The mom plans to ask for the reference when she sees
the doctor next week. **I would appreciate hearing from anyone familiar
with this research or concern.**

Does anyone know of a diabetologist who is savvy about breastfeeding?
Particularly one in the Pacific Northwest? Please email me privately if
you have any recommendations.

Gratefully,

Cindy
