Ruth, your "superior" who thinks that your only fault is being too strong on
breastfeeding is ignorant, and obviously has no idea that guilt, and other
negative feelings...are not something we can MAKE someone feel. If they feel
it, we didn't give it to them, but they have it. Period.
You are not soft peddling bf, and that is what most institutions want.
Here, physicians, and others, nurses, short change bf, because they dont'
want to make mothers feel guilty. To me, this is dangerous, patronizing
behavior and attitude. Who has the right to withhold information from
families? Why is it any different than talking turkey about smoking, or
cocaine? It's the same.
No one makes money from breastfeeding...well, not anywhere as much as the
formula pushers do.
Please continue to support mothers and babies in the first area of health
and prevention- breastfeeding.
