There are not really laws in the US AGAINST breastfeeding in public, but
there are obscenity/indecency laws that are sometimes incorrectly applied
to breastfeeding mothers.  Many states are now passing laws to make sure
that this does not happen.  New York, my state, went further.  New York's
law made breastfeeding a civil right, and provided for fines or prison
time for anyone interfering with a woman breastfeeding anywhere she has
the right to be, even if her nipple is exposed.
