Hi,
not directly related, but a similar issue: a magazine in Britain,
"Mother and Baby" answered a problem page letter from a mother in a very
negative way which distressed me.

Basically, the woman had had breast reduction surgery and was told she
could not breastfeed, but had got engorged and leaked milk last time she
had a baby. She now wondered if she could breastfeed. Rather than
suggesting she *might* be able to at least partially breastfeed, the
magazine were totally negative and told her she might leak milk but the
ducts were almost certainly severed and she couldn't definitely couldn't
breastfeed her baby. Without examining her, I have no idea how they
could know this. There were no suggestions on where to get skilled
advice, how to tell if the baby *was* getting breastmilk from her etc. I
am sure there are lots of ideas you all could have on how this woman
might be able to give at least *some* breastmilk to her baby, but they
had no encouragement for her. They didn't even say that her desire to
breastfeed was a good one - her idea was just slammed as totally
impractical.

Incidently, this same issue had a pull-out section on "How to
Bottlefeed" and was cramed with adverts from ABM companies. Coincidence?
