My sister called last night from New Hampshire (USA) and asked if I knew an
LC in the Concord area. If you are on line, please e-mail me privately. The
situation is a friend of hers has a 12 month old breastfed baby who
displayed extreme allergies when introduced to solids at six months. This
babe can tolerate nothing except breastmilk (with mom on a very restricted
diet) and a formula called Neocate One Plus. The baby can only tolerate even
one form of the formula because in the ready-to-pour version there is a
flavor additive the baby is allergic to. Mom buys the powder form by mail
for a four-digit figure each month. She is not exclusively breastfeeding
anymore because of the dietary restrictions (she's sick of them) and concern
about baby's needs--she wishes he could tolerate *some* solids. Anybody know
anything about this particular ABM and have any similar experiences? My
smart sis reminded her friend that the baby probably is one year old
BECAUSE she chose breastfeeding!! What a frustrating situation for this mom!!
