i have read some of the article re: food introduction not happening if not
introduced at the appropriate time... i do not remember it well enough to
quote but will try to look at this weekend and fill you in....found it..
illingworth used animal behavior models to build his hypothosis... animals
that if they did not receive the cue at the appropriate time did not learn
the bahavior... ie: chicks separated from mom at one day lill follow any
moving object.. if they are isolated till > day one they will not follow ..
therfore there is a "critical learing period" that if not "captured is lost"
...examples such as these are extrapolated to children learning to eat..
there is NO human data available!
also one should note that our children are not deprived of seeing eating as
the animals are deprived of the behavior they are to learn.
it reminds me of the diaper issue.... i saw no graduates of the elementary
school wearing diapers....
