I also am interested in information, especially with references, as to the
possible negative effects of permanent hair dyes, with or without peroxide.
(It is my understanding that temporary hair dyes, or vegetable dyes are not a
problem, as they supposedly only coat the hair shaft and do not penetrate the
scalp) Can they be found in breast milk? In what sort of concentration? What
are the implications of using such a product? Are they carcinogenic, or do
they cause damage to organs such as kidneys and liver? A recent discussion
about this very topic with several local LLLLs, one of which is an RN and
IBCLC, yielded no concrete info. This is being considered for discussion at a
chapter meeting if I can find some info. TIA
