There have been posts about herpes before that will give you more info -
check archives.  I do not think they specifically addressed breast lesions
though.  If this mom had primary inf. 8 yrs ago and none since, I feel she
will be OK. Primary inf. is worst case scenario.  If mom does get lesions on
breast, I agree with your care plan.  Hand washing is essential.  Most babies
exposed even vaginally to other than primary inf. do well.  Breast inf. would
be less exposure.  The younger the baby or if premie, the more chance for
inf. if exposed to lesion. There is a herpes foundation, often cited in ann
landers or the other, probalby can be found on internet. If anyone has snail
or email for them, please post.
