Could the baby be treated with acyclovir if severe enough or just let the
herpes run its course and treat for pain (sounds like what they are doing).
 Could mom use acyclovir cream on nipples til outbreak clears?  I see no
reason to quit nursing unless too painful for mom at this time.  HSV 1 is
usually oral and HSV 2 is usually genital I think, though either form can be
in either location.  Good handwashing is key and good general health -
nutrition, rest, reduce stress - and I don't see how this could become
genital herpes unless direct contact.
