Enflamed with curiosity after some postings on Lactnet, I've been reading
about the Ezzos on the internet.
At least they suggest that feedings only be scheduled every 3 hours. Has
anyone heard about the nutritional system known as "Nutritional Hygiene"
promoted by the Institute of Life Science? (Their teachings are the source
of the book "Fit for Life".)
Their infant feeding component states that babies should not be breastfed
more than 4 times a day after the first few weeks. They advocate
supplementing with freshly squeezed fruit juice from this age (fruit is
considered to be nutritionally superior to the average mother's breastmilk
and more easily digested). Feeding at night is not on, as the digestion
needs to rest. Has anyone come across a baby whose mother was following
this system?
Tfind it interesting that this paranoia about overfeeding has found its way
into such divergent philosophies. It illustrates just how ingrained it is
in our modern consciousness.
