I regret that I do not recall the original post, but I wonder if Pearl
Shifer could email me her reference for chamomile being related to ragweed?
This is interesting because my references, including Penny Ody's The
Complete Medicinal Herbal, say that chamomile tincture can be used as an
eyewash for conjunctivitis and the flowers can be added to boiling water to
make an inhalant for hay fever, asthma, or bronchitis. It can, however,
cause contact dermatitis. The leaves of the purple sage (s. officinalis),
on the other hand, are useful in reducing lactation when weaning. I have
used a sage and chamomile gum rub for my son to reduce teething pain.
Just my bit for today.
