Fellow Lactnetters-
I want to share with you one way in which PRO-LC (Eastern PA ILCA
Affiliate) is celebrating WBW.
We are launching an award campaign called the "Caught You" award (But we
are VERY open to a name change...Any Ideas?) The idea is to "catch" members
of the community who protect, support and promote BF in their policies and
practices. Recipients may be health care providers, employers,WIC personnel,
day care providers, public institutions.
When a PRO-LC member sees someone behaving in a breastfeeding-friendly
way, they send a form to me. I send the recipient a certificate suitable
for framing, and notify the local newspapers and affiliated hospital (if
applicable). We hope that this will help to make BF friendly policies
contagious!
The first recipients are four pediatricians, one large employer, and a
public library. Remember the brouhaha a year or so ago when a library asked
a nursing mother to leave? Well, the Abington Free Library in Abington, PA
posts a sign in the Ladies' Room: "Nursing Mothers-Please feel free to nurse
your babies anywhere in the library. However, if YOU are would feel more
comfortable, you are welcome to use the employee lounge."
A press release about WBW, the community theme, and the award recipients
was sent to several newspapers. We'll see if any of them pick it up....
Linda- What's your shirt say today?
    Happy WBW.
